Emma Loffredo!

They usually say that the first baby takes a while to come on out, but Emma was having none of that. Such was her eagerness to get moving that she wouldn't even wait for the OB to show up. Emmas official stats were:

Length: 49.5cm (19.5in)
Weight: 3.28kg (7 lbs 3.6oz)

For those of you interested in the timeline, things happened as follows:

Thursday morning and afternoon Krista has occasional contractions, a bit uncomfortable, but being first child, she suspects false labor. Spends the time building shelves for the babys room.
approx. 4pm Contractions more regular in nature. Krista still puttering around the house. Decides to cancel social gathering so she can take it easy. Sends Dave some email mentioning contractions.
7:40pm Dave arrives at home with dinner and we eat said dinner while watching the Simpsons. Krista occasionaly distracted by contractions. Dave makes several suggestions about calling doctor.
8:30pm Krista finally calls her doctor, who suggests coming into the hospital to check it out.
8:50pm Krista has contraction in photo above. We leave for Albany Med, along the way, Krista has additional contractions at 8:55, 9:00, 9:05, etc.
9:15pm Arrive at Albany Med, park in the parking garage and stroll leisurely through four buildings to the birth center. Shown to an exam room where they hook Krista up to the monitors and then go off to find a resident.
9:55pm Contractions have become more frequent and intense. Resident finally arrives, examines, declares her to be at 6cm, which settles the whole issue of "false" labor once and for all.
10:10pm Shown to actual birthing-type room, contractions now become much more intense. Some discussions about pain meds.
10:25pm It becomes pretty clear that there is no time for any sort of meds. In fact, Krista starts getting the urge to push while the nurse is still trying to get the IV into her arm for the basic saline. Dave notices the staff giving each other significant looks and getting ready for action. It looks like Krista's OB won't even get there in time. Krista toughs it out with no meds at all, getting somewhat freaked out over how fast it is all happening.
10:49pm Emma emerges, in time to catch the evening news.
10:55pm Krista's OB arrives, delivers the placenta, thus missing the score, but gaining credit for the assist.
